Where She Needs To Be

Adrienne Largo has seven special reasons she misses being home in Arizona: Sean, Amya, Noah, Mary, Ryan, Adam and Sage. While her children are at home with her husband, Adrienne spends her days in Omaha with their youngest: Toni.
Born three months early, Toni was diagnosed with necrotizing entercolitis, a gastrointestinal disease that mostly affects premature infants. It results in infection and inflammation that causes destruction of the bowel. Toni also was diagnosed with liver disease.
Her doctors in New Mexico decided Toni may need a liver and small bowel transplant, and recommended that she be taken to Omaha and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Adrienne didn’t hesitate.
These days, while Toni, now 9 months old, grows stronger, mother and daughter stay at the Ronald McDonald House. They’re not sure if Toni will need the transplant, but are willing to wait until her doctors decide.
For now, the Largos are thankful to have a place to stay. Adrienne often tells visitors she doesn’t know what she would do if there wasn’t a Ronald McDonald House in Omaha. “It’s such a blessing for us.”
Adrienne stays in contact with her other children through daily phone calls and the letters she writes to each of them.
She tells them she loves them and that she hopes to be home soon – with Toni.
