Matching Grants Program

 

INTRODUCTION:

 

The MISSION STATEMENT of Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha, Inc. is to provide a “home-away-from-home” temporary lodging facility so the families of seriously ill children being treated at nearby medical facilities may gather strength and support. In addition, we are to provide grants to other organization, programs and causes that support and provide opportunities for children.

 

Our cornerstone program, the Omaha Ronald McDonald House, was established in 1994. The Omaha House and Charity is locally operated and funded by a nonprofit organization of dedicated volunteers. The annual operating costs are supported the generosity of many individuals, businesses, and the Nebraska and Western Iowa McDonald’s owners/operators.

 

Our Matching Grants Program was implemented in 1998. Its purpose is to provide support for children’s programs in Nebraska and Western Iowa. A portion of each grant is funded by our local Charity and a portion by our National Charity.

 

RMHC GRANTMAKING GUIDELINES:

 

In order to receive a grant, a potential grantee must meet the following criteria: The organization’s program must directly benefit children. It must have consistent and effective management, a broad base of funding support, a demonstrated ability to respond to specific target populations in a manner that yields measurable results, and it must be related to the health and medical research, education, the arts, or civic and social areas.

 

RMHC does not fund:

 

  • Advertising or fund-raising drives
  • Partisan, political or denomination programs
  • General and administrative costs
  • Intermediary funding agencies
  • Endowment campaigns
  • Ongoing salaries or travel expenses
  • Requests not in writing
  • Requests greater than $10,000

 

We review applications four times per year. Please contact the Ronald McDonald House to inquire about the next review period and deadline for applying. Notification will be provided 30 days after review period, and funds will be available approximately 30 days after notification. Contact the office if you have questions.
