Dylan's
Dad is a Hero
The
staff sergeant in the U.S. Marines recently donated one of his kidneys
to his 7-year-old son. The transplant is the latest chapter in Dylan
Chavarin's struggle to recover from hirschsprungs disease. In March of
2000, Dylan's mom, Krissi, checked into the Omaha Ronald McDonald House
for the first time. Earlier that day, Dylan had received a new liver,
pancreas and small bowel during a procedure that took 13 hours. "I
was looking for a place to call home while I was in Omaha -- and I found
it at the Ronald McDonald House," Krissi said. Krissi
and Dylan have stayed at the House several times during the past year.
Dylan's father and his siblings,
Nathan and Samantha, joined them during their most recent stay in
December and January. That's when Dylan received a kidney from his
father. |
