Keep Nebraska Beautiful, a governor’s commission aimed at protecting the environment, recently honored RMHC Omaha with an award of excellence for its aluminum can tab program.
Through the program, schools, businesses and community organizations are encouraged to save their aluminum can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha. Last year, RMHC Omaha recycled more than 32 million tabs, which generated more than $16,000 to help cover the organization’s operating costs.
The award acknowledged that the can tab program also helps reduce litter.
