Missouri kids do their part
Credit a popular television show for giving a 10-year-old girl the idea to have a lemonade stand to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
Olivia, a fifth-grader, was watching “John and Kate Plus Eight” and saw that the family hosted a garage sale to benefit a Ronald McDonald House in another state.
Olivia, along with her 7-year-old brother, Michael, had the lemonade stand during a nine-day stay with their grandparents in Council Bluffs.
The Missouri youngsters told how many customers told the kids to keep the change once they learned the proceeds were benefiting the Ronald House in Omaha.
“One man even gave us five dollars,” Olivia explained.
The kids and their grandmother, Jan Stone, recently visited the Ronald McDonald House, took a tour and turned over the profits they made.
